Knocked Up DVD Bonus FeaturesSeth Rogen, Katherine Heigl in Unrated Version of Judd Apatow Comedy
Knocked Up on DVD includes 25 minutes of extra scenes including deleted and extended scenes, gag reel, documentary, and featurette.
Sharing a house with his slacker friends as they work on creating a soft pornography website, Ben Stone (Seth Rogen) lives a carefree life. He smokes pot, makes jokes, hangs out with his friends, and watches lots of racy movies. Katherine Heigl Plays Rogen’s Love InterestBen never dreams of having a beautiful girlfriend – or finding a real job for that matter – yet one night meets Alison Scott (Katherine Heigl) at a local bar. She’s stunning to look at, fun to talk to, and ready to celebrate her job promotion. Drunk beyond reasoning, Ben and Alison decide to celebrate the promotion together at home in her bedroom. Eight weeks later, she finds out she’s pregnant with this virtual stranger’s child. Co-starring Judd Apatow regulars Paul Rudd, Leslie Mann, Jason Segel, Jay Baruchel, and Jonah Hill, this outrageous romantic comedy stays funny throughout, yet never quite achieves the big laugh-out-loud moment viewers crave. Apatow’s daughters (Iris and Maude) play the daughters of Mann (Apatow’s real-life wife). As with other Apatow DVD releases, this one includes an extensive package of goodies including an unused topless scene (not Heigl) at a web design company. Some of the deleted scenes fill in the blanks and include more gross-out moments (as if this movie needs any more) for fans who just can’t get enough raunch. Selected Knocked Up DVD Bonus Features Deleted Scenes:
Extended/Alternate Scenes:
Roller Coaster Documentary: In this short doc, Jay Baruchel is forced to ride the roller coaster at Knotts Berry Farm to film a scene despite his fear of thrill rides. Viewers can watch Baruchel have an anxiety attack and Jason Segel vomit after riding the roller coaster multiple times. Billed as an actual documentary, the emotions (and vomit) do seem real. This funny little doc has little to do with the actual movie, but does provide a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the actors playing housemates of Rogen’s character. Directing the Director: In this short feature (a spoof), director Bennett Miller (Capote) gets sent by Universal Studios to watch over Apatow’s shoulder while making the film. Miller’s job is to keep the other director in line by teaching him to emphasize more artistic qualities in his comedies. This involves private talks with the actors to go against Apatow’s direction and eventually leads to a fight between the two directors. More amusing than funny, this feature, like the roller coaster doc, adds extra value to the DVD package while providing no insights whatsoever into the film.
